My wife and I were involved with the Regent Honeyeater project out of Benalla for some years until moving to Goulburn. We now have a small property that we are trying to make more sustainable, including by building soil moisture and soil quality and by attracting more wildlife. I am involved with a group, Community Voice for Hume, CV4H, that is working to establish a Sustainability Hub for Hume, starting in Goulburn Mulwaree. The first project is intended to make local gardens more sustainable and, where possible, growing vegetables, using Permaculture principals. The Hub is to be established as a not for profit community group separate to CV4H. Also to link-up as many other community groups, such as gardening clubs as well as suppliers of plants etc to create a significant number of members. The larger objective is to sequester carbon and help the climate/environment along the lines advocated by Dr Jehne. The next step would be to bring in the care of grazing land and regenerative farming with the same objective os improving soil moisture and soil quality. Ultimately, assuming that we are successful, we want to see the concept adopted across NSW. But where appropriate we want to facilitate bring existing groups together not to supplant any such groups. Comments and feedback would be much appreciated.
