Community Standards:

Welcome to Landcarer

We’re really happy that you’re here. This is a great medium with which to solicit the advice of your peers, benefit from their experience, and participate in an ongoing conversation.

Landcare Australia Limited (ACN 008 656 513) ('we', 'us' or 'our') wants to foster a collaborative and supportive community on the Landcarer Platform. We have developed these Community Standards so that you can help us develop and maintain a safe community of individuals and organisations that are committed to protecting, restoring and sustaining Australia's natural environment.

By using the Landcarer Platform you agree to abide by these Community Standards and the End User Licence Agreement (EULA).

We encourage you to review the EULA closely as it contains more information regarding the acceptable use of the Landcarer Platform.

We reserve the right to remove any content that violates these Community Standards or the EULA. Under the EULA, we have the right to suspend or prevent your access to the Landcarer Platform if you do not comply with the EULA or these Community Standards.

Please take a moment to acquaint yourself with these important guidelines and contact Landcare Australia with any questions you may have.

By joining and using Landcarer, you agree that you have read and will follow these rules and guidelines. You also agree to reserve discussions and shared files and content to that best suited to the medium.

In order to preserve an environment that encourages both civil and fruitful dialogue, we reserve the right to suspend or terminate participation in this platform for anyone who violates these rules.

The Rules

    • It goes without saying, but only post information that you have the right to share. Respect intellectual property. Post content that you have personally created or have permission to use and have properly attributed to the content creator. This includes another individual's personal information or image. This also includes any information that you know to be confidential in nature.

    • Please post information that is appropriate to share in a community forum. We want to foster a diverse community on the Landcarer Platform. It is our hope that this includes users that range in age, background and in their personal beliefs. Any content that you share on the Landcarer Platform must be suitable for a diverse audience. Nudity, offensive language or violence will not be allowed. All defamatory, abusive, profane, threatening, offensive, or illegal materials are strictly prohibited. Do not post anything you do not want the world to see or that you would not want anyone to know came from you.

    • Be courteous and respectful of individuals, organisations and their opinions. Focus on the content of posts and not on the people making them. Please extend the benefit of the doubt to newer guests and members; there’s no such thing as a stupid question.

    • When posting items in this collaborative environment, please indicate if the item is not available for reuse. It's also advisable to contact the owner of any material if you would like to reuse it.

    • Post your message or documents only to the most appropriate communities of practice. This helps ensure all messages receive the best response by eliminating "noise".

    • Please don’t spam or troll by posting irrelevant, repetitive or misleading content.

    • It goes without saying, but Landcarer can’t be used for any unlawful purposes or to promote any sort of criminal behaviour. This includes using the Landcarer Platform to promote or publicise any crime or fraudulent behaviour. By using the Landcarer Platform, you agree to comply with any applicable laws which govern your online conduct.

    • Do not to interfere, access or tamper with any non-public areas of the Landcarer Platform. This includes interfering with or disrupting the access of any other user of the Landcarer Platform.

    • Business posts or advertising aren’t allowed, and will be deleted. If you want to enquire about advertising opportunities, please contact us.

    • If you’re a journalist and you see good material for a story, ask for permission before you do anything with it. Anyone breaking this rule will be kicked off the platform.

Group Etiquette

    • State concisely and clearly the topic of your comments in the subject line. This allows users to respond more appropriately to your posting and makes it easier for members to search the archives by subject.

    • Send messages such as "thanks for the information" or "me, too" to individuals, not to the entire list. Do this by using the "Reply to Sender" link in every message.

    • Do not send administrative messages, such as "remove me from the list," to the community of practice. Instead, use the web interface to change your settings or to remove yourself from a list. If you are changing email addresses, you do not need to remove yourself from the list and rejoin under your new email address. Simply change your settings.
