Just trying to get an understanding of a few of the partnership aspects and program objectives of 'urban landcare' to see what strings need to be pulled to create a new urban landcare group.

    1. If 'urban landcare' groups cut across jurisdictional/property boundaries, how are partnerships negotiated between the neighbouring property owners?

    2. What are valid reasons for creating an 'urban landcare' group?
The suitability of creating habitat for restored biodiversity, or conservation of specific endangered species?
The suitability for creating a site for landcare ecologies due to otherwise 'void' spaces in cities?
The need to create a 'green' space or to mitigate the urban heat island effect?
The need to protect an area from urban development or remnant ecosystem clearing?

    4.  What role does Urban Landcare have in terms of providing multifunctional landscapes that provide food and shelter for human and non-human species in urban settings, and through working in with urban agriculture projects?  There are many ways it could acheive this - through creating 'pollinator corridors', Miyawaki forests, rewilding for keystone ecological species etc.
For example, I read about a 'pollinator corridor' project being started adjacent to Melbourne Botanic Gardens and this sounds great for improving the health and long-term prospects for both human/non-human urban wild food projects in the vicinity.  Can an urban landcare group be formed that is specifically aimed at fulfilling such an objective?

Hi Lina, the Sydney region has a long history of very active urban Landcare and Bushcare, so the Greater Sydney Landcare Network website has a range of resources relevant to your questions. There are also members of the Greater Sydney Landcare Network here on Landcarer - for example @Danielle2726 @Xuela1674 and @Maree359 - who may be able to offer further advice.

In regard to urban agriculture specifically, a good source of information is the RUAF Global Partnership on Sustainable Urban Agriculture and Food Systems which has a history of more than 20 years. It publishes a range of resources including Urban Agriculture Magazine.
