The purpose of this planting is to support bank stabilization that is not only essential for the health of our waterways but also provides habitat for fish and of course platypus. Platypus as you know uses these banks to create burrows which are essential for their successful reproduction.Unfortunately due to the unsafety of the area, we had to cancel the volunteer participation in this planting. Hopefully, as the weather calms down, volunteers can access this site and help in further plantings and look after the ones that are already planted.Want to get involved? Join our mailing list to hear about upcoming events! Landcare NSW has partnered with Greater Sydney Landcare Network to deliver the planting of 100,000 trees as part of the NSW Premiers Priority of increasing tree canopy and green cover across Greater Sydney. #habitat #platypusconservation #habitatrestoration #planting #plantatree #urbanforest #endangeredspecies

Meet like-minded people that live near you, learn about your local natural environment, and do your part to help!We will be spending the day continuing to remove the environmental weeds near the riverbank and doing so methodically to ensure the bank remains stabilized. The area has been heavily infested with Privet, so we will be removing this weed to allow room for other native plants to grow, improving the biodiversity of the area. We'd love for you to join!WHEN: 13th of February, 2022TIME: 10 am - 1:30 pm, lunch provided.REGISTRATION IS ESSENTIAL - Please see the link belowhttps://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/platypus-landcare-riverbank-restoration-tickets-257426628977#habitat #habitatrestoration #platypus #platypusconservation #riparian #repairriparian #landcare #bushcare #hillsshire #greatersydney

They are doing their part to look after the bushland that resides on their property by removing weeds which has significantly improved the flora biodiversity and planting native species which have grown exceptionally well! They are also a part of a newly created Landcare group, Platypus Landcare which are now helping by partaking in bushcare activities. As LFW landholders they will now be able to connect to a network of like-minded landowners and organisations that are also protecting and improving the ecological value of their land, they will also get access to education events like workshops to further their knowledge in protecting wildlife and be eligible to apply for funding to support works that could be undertaken to improve habitat.CHEN is a Regional provider for Land For Wildlife in the Hills Shire, so if you have more then half a hectare of land and are willing to manage all or part of your land in a sustainable way, go to www.cen.org.au/projects/land-for-wildlife and fill out an expression of interest form! We will contact you and undertake a site assessment to see if your property meets LFW requirements and provide helpful information on how to improve the ecological value of your land.Note* LFW does not change the status or title of your property.#landforwildlife #habitat #landcare #wildlife #saveourspecies #volunteer #conservation

This is a group formed under the community organization, Cattai Hills Environment Network Some of the activities we have done include bird watching, clean-ups, bush care, making habitats like frog hotels, water quality testing the creek, and partaking in citizen science activities like Frog ID and Hollows as Homes (monitoring hollows - check out the link below for more details == https://www.rbgsyd.nsw.gov.au/hollows-as-homes/hollows-as-homes) In two weeks we are coming back to reunite and to look after our site by partaking in some bush BINGO and having a nice big morning tea. We know that platypus and other native wildlife like the Powerful Owl call this reserve and the Cattai Creek which flows through, home. Such endangered and beautiful creatures need a voice, and that is who we are.If you live in the Hills Shire and want a community group to connect with and learn about the natural environment in your local area, come along to our next activity on the 7th of November! This is also a great way to do some volunteering which can help you when applying for jobs in the environmental field! It is also a great way to meet and connect with like-minded people in your area
Click the link below to be added to our Facebook group and see what we get up to. A group will be formed on Landcarer soon so stay tuned!https://www.landcarer.com.au/fevent/24/fred-caterson-landcare-big-welcome-back-morning-tea-and-bush-bingo/#landcare #fredcaterson #communitygroup #volunteering #habitat #bushcare #citizenscience #landcarensw #sydneylandcare

Help us continue this work by making a small donation today. Every donation makes a difference, increasing our ability to reach schools, and landholders to take care of our waterways and bushland that are home to such special wildlife that need our help. Thank you to those that have already made a contribution! Every dollar is much appreciated and put to good work. You can find the link to our donation here == www.chen.org.au/donations/ #platypus #donate #notforprofit #platypusconservation #conservationworks #landcarensw #landcareaustralia #bushcare #wildlife #habitat #protectourwaterways #ecolife #connecttonature #donation #environmentaldonation
