Environmental Action: A Practical Guide - Revegetation

Here at Bellarine Catchment Network, we have created a series of videos to keep you engaged and excited about volunteering in nature. One of our hit videos is about revegetation; why you would do it, where you would do it, and how.

Hear from Matt and Sophie as they show you the benefits of restoring natural habitat. Learn how to plant a tree and how you can give it the best chance of survival using the correct methods of revegetation.

Some tips to remember are:

  • Always wear PPE (gloves, glasses, enclosed shoes);
  • Use locally indigenous plants;
  • Don't place the plant too deep or too shallow into it's hole;
  • Gently push the plant into the hole after it has been installed;
  • Undertake revegetation works in times of high rainfall; and
  • Consider using guards to protect your seedlings.

Watch the Bellarine Catchment Network revegetation video.

The best way to get out there and start volunteering is to get involved in a local environment group. For those in the Bellarine or Geelong region, you can find out about your local group by visiting the Bellarine Catchment Network website.
