Thank you for signing up for this special day with Charlie Massy and Nicki Taws. You will have a fabulous day. Food and beverages will be supplied!

Please bring some warm clothes and wet weather gear just in case. Bring some drinking water and a tea cup so we limit waste. You may like to bring a chair.

Please make your way to Severn Park. There will be signs to guide you in off Black Range Road.

Here is some more information on what you will come away with and a little history:

Charlie Massy and family slogged out many droughts on this large working grazing property. a property nestled in the heart of the Monaro Plains. In dealing with denuded paddocks around them, they started to turn practices upside down. Charlie took himself off to uni and then to his shed office for 8 years to write the acclaimed, "Call of the Reed Warbler".

Careful management of native grasslands and plugging trees and shrubs back into the granite ridges of Severn Park has meant they have been able to find the sweet spot on this fragile blowable country.

Nicki Taws from Greening Australia would have to be one of the most experienced growers and planters of native species on the Monaro. Her wealth of knowledge will be shared on this day on the values of shelter belts. Here is what she has to say about them, "Shelterbelts are like the highways along which birds and insects travel across your farm to go out into the paddocks and clean up pests and pollinate plants".

Nicki has backed this up with a link to a document here: Shelter Belts

All Monaro graziers will get a huge benefit from hearing from Charlie and Nicki as they showcase the benefits to stock and landscape of a crisscrossing mosaic of shelter/shade/conservation areas.
