If you’re attending the 23rd Australasian Weeds Conference in Brisbane next week, please stop by stand 6 where the Centre for Invasive Species Solutions will be showcasing the WeedScan app.

Conference delegates will also hear from the Centre’s Chief Executive, Andreas Glanznig, as he presents on WeedScan: Australia’s first computer vision weed ID and communications system.

Launched in December 2023, WeedScan is a free, easy-to-use digital tool that equips users to identify, report, map and manage priority weeds. It’s the result of years of research and development, involving botanists, agronomists, computer scientists and community groups.

The app’s AI smarts have already attracted 19,000 users, 8,000 weed records uploaded and groups across the country are adopting the app to better manage weed burdens in their local areas.

The app is supported by the Centre for Invasive Species Solutions, Australia’s national science agency – CSIRO, the Atlas of Living Australia, the NSW Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development and the South Australian, Queensland and Victorian Governments. It was funded by the Australian Government’s National Landcare Program.

Download the app today! Visit WeedScan to get started on your smartphone or as a web app. Find user guides, how-to resources and video resources for the smartest way to better manage Australia’s #national and local weed burdens.
