Australian farmers have a long and proud history of achieving exceptional landcare outcomes in environmental stewardship, innovative land management practices and validating new research. Practices that improve farm productivity – and protects the health of our soil, water and biodiversity. Landcare Farmers have been putting the ‘green’ in the Australia agriculture setors ,clean’ and ‘green’ for decades. Our plan is to bring these stories, actions and activities together, and promote or indibidual success as one. The 2019 - 2023 Landcare Farming Program is national, federally funded program, designed to increase the awareness, knowledge and participation in the adoption of best practice and leading research and extension outputs. Our aim is to strengthen the connections between Landcare and the agricultural sector, and increase our contribution to agricultural and community resilience across Australia. The Landcare Farming Program will act as a conduit between landcare farmers and leading research, programs and partnerships opportunities, providing easy access and support for farmers to access industry developed research, programs and tools. Our strategy is to invest in and partner with likeminded stakeholders to develop projects and activities that increase adoption of practices that improve soil and water health, that maintain or increase biodiversity. To help us identify and align the right research and resources required for Australian producers we have developed a set of six themes. The themes set out the core areas of focus for producers and industry to maintain or improve soil, water health, and/or improve biodiversity outcomes amongst Australian land managers and their respective industry advisors. Our program will help demonstrate best practice, suitable industry training and support opportunities, with the view to build industry awareness and uptake of online resources, such as decision support tools and peer to peer interviews and case studies. Our program is just kicking off, and promotion and participation will increase from August onwards. Our webpage will be online very soon, and an exciting media campaign, best practice farming case studies, interview with leading researchers, and a range of projects nationally to be launched - all aimed at highlighting the success of our grassroot networks onground action. Join our group now and be first to hear about new research, our projects, programs, opportunities. Cheers Mick Taylor
