He has strengthened governance, broadened and deepened relationships across the landcare community, and positioned Landcare Australia for growth to enable the work of the vigorous landcare community across Australia. From supporting the work of landcare volunteers, farmers and landholders, to advocating for the next generation to lead with landcare, Doug has been at the forefront of promoting why Australia needs landcare. His efforts have ensured that people back landcare and recognise the significant achievements of the landcare movement in their efforts to restore, enhance and protect Australis’s land, water, soils, plants, animals and ecosystems. As chair, Doug created space for the establishment of the First Nations Landcare Working Group, an advisory body to the Landcare Australia board, formally launched in 2023 at Parliament House, Canberra. His legacy is his leadership of Landcare Australia’s commitment to fostering collaboration with First Nations people and organisations through the Working Group and across the Landcare Australia team
