Executive Director Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced and highly competent Executive Director to co-lead the Firesticks Alliance Indigenous Corporation in its mission to support indigenous communities around Australia, and strengthen their land management and fire practices on Country.
Working in partnership with the Lead Fire Practitioner, the Executive Director will design and direct strategies that support and enhance our organisational operations.
Duties will include managing company assets, optimising financial operations, providing leadership to all staff, establishing business goals, ensuring tax compliance, advising the board of directors on organisational activities, overseeing and streamlining daily operations, improving staff performance, and executing special business projects.
Your exceptional stewardship and strategic planning skills as an executive director will aid our organisation in promoting our mission and objectives, maintaining positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, achieving organisational goals, and maintaining sound financial practices.
The ideal candidate must possess a strong entrepreneurial drive, cultural competence, outstanding communication skills, strong leadership qualities, and good planning and organisational skills.
The Executive Director will streamline our organisational operations, effectively and efficiently direct operational budgets, improve revenue, direct our business strategy, and enhance relations with the media, internal stakeholders, staff, and our communities.
Executive Director Responsibilities:
- Developing and directing organisational strategy
- Drafting organisational policies and philosophies
- Overseeing day-to-day business activities
- Support and guide organisational good governance.
- Conducting performance reviews
- Preparing comprehensive budgets
- Reporting on revenue and expenditure
- Engaging with community groups
- Creating sound business plans
- Coaching department heads
- Overseeing financial accounts
Executive Director Requirements:
- Masters in business administration or equivalent experience
- Exceptional interpersonal skills
- Financial management experience
- Highly organised
- Human resource focused
- Understanding of indigenous culture
- Project management experience
- Highly ethical behaviour
- Effective communicator
- Motivational skill
- In-depth knowledge of financial practices
- Public relations politically savvy and marketing knowledge
This position will report to the Board of Directors and will be a non-voting member of the Board.
