Peter and I are heading to the Sydney National Landcare Conference on August 23rd – 25th. It will be the largest knowledge sharing convention for people involved in landcare activities around Australia for 2022. It seems particularly poignant after the release of the State of the Environment Report which was depressing for the whole of Australia. Some of the questions we are hoping to gain information on are;
- How do we reduce 'ecology blindness' in mainstream Australian society?
- How do we bridge the enormous knowledge gap between urban and rural communities about current land management practises across Australia?
- Should govt./community have regional think tanks to strategically determine which landuse will occur in which zone?
- Is it time to phase out the concept of 'land-owner' and replace these words with 'land-custodian'?
- 'Ego and greed'. How do we increase social responsibility
