Greeted by a warm smile and enthusiasm is what you get when you meet Beth.
An active volunteer on many fronts in the Gippsland community, her dedicated commitment to Landcare since 2000 has seen her both with what she refers to as ‘dirt under her fingernails’, as well as in several Committee positions including President or Chair of several local groups including Avon Landcare Group, Lakes Entrance Community Landcare Gippsland Group, Wellington Sustainability Group and Gippsland Climate Change Network.
Other regional, state, and national Landcare positions have seen her similarly contributing on the leading Landcare Committees and Boards. Having just completed her term on the Landcare Victoria Board, she is currently the Victorian Director on the National Landcare Network Board.
Landcare and Local Government being a good fit for Beth, and as a former Mayor and Councillor of Wellington Shire Council and Vice President and Board Member of the Victorian Local Governance Association she also was her Council’s representative on the Community Consultative Committee of the West Gippsland Catchment Management Authority.
Beth’s passion, dedication and hands-on leadership has achieved a great deal for Landcare, and environmental sustainability generally. This has been realised by her being a great networker, giving consistent and reliable support to others and by encouraging them to join her in making a difference to the health of their community and the environment.
Beth has been recognised with an OAM ‘For service to conservation and the environment’.
