NSW Department of Primary Industries (NSW DPI) interview 40 producers across NSW and south-west QLD on their drought management strategies to better understand the varied mitigation measures used across different industries and environments. They find that while individual circumstances and locations differ, common themes emerge, including: ground cover as a priority, livestock selection and management, soil moisture content assessment, need for climate forecasting, water storage, goal setting, financial opportunities and management, maintaining mental and physical health, and the benefit of community involvement in landcare activities.
