Junior Landcare Webinar: Taking Learning Outdoors Using First Nations Perspectives

Wiradjuri man and First Nations Educator Adam Shipp and Environmental Educator Sam Harrison joined Junior Landcare ambassador, Costa Georgiadis, for an inspiring webinar during Biodiversity Month 2024 to support educators passionate about integrating First Nations perspectives into their teaching.

The inspiring and valuable session covered the essentials of taking learning outdoors with First Nations perspectives projects, providing practical advice and culturally respectful approaches, on topics including:

  • Getting Started: Advice about connecting with your local Traditional Owner and First Nations organisations.

  • Keeping it Local: An overview of activities in habitat observation and First Nations season exploration you can adapt to your local area.

  • Activities for different age groups: Adam, Sam and Costa talk about activities suitable for early years teaching as well as primary school
