The Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment (DAWE) take a deep dive into the importance of protecting our environment from biosecurity risks, and the critical role landcarers and on-ground environmental workers play in protecting Australia from invasive exotic pests, weeds and diseases. Challenges addressed include the need for a more effective environmental biosecurity response and preparedness system, better and more cost-effective surveillance capacity, and higher quality and more detailed information on the potential impact of biosecurity risks on our environment.
