Noosa Landcare’s Hinterhub opened in late 2020 in the small township of Pomona in Noosa’s Hinterland. Previously, Noosa Landcare’s main office building received a facelift during Covid lockdowns and is now ostensibly a retail nursery, environmental information centre and an outlet for locally-made environmentally sensitive products, the proceeds of which feed back into its projects. This presentation will explore how the hub has exceeded expectations, becoming a dynamic and encouraging space that is positively impacting the community’s wellbeing. The presentation will address how maintaining connection with the natural environment has provided solace, with the community found to be more willing than ever to engage with the environment in a constructive way.
