On Wednesday 19th of October, an awesome selection of local landcarers came along to Blueberry Hills on Comleroy, Kurrajong NSW, to learn more about natural asset management, as well as opportunities to participate and gain accreditation in natural capital accounting!

Funded substantially by Landcare Farming, the field day was a huge success! With expert tuition delivered by Amanda Hansson and Chrissy Elmer - experienced ecologists, natural resource managers and environmental researchers from the Accounting for Nature team of experts - our landcarers were in good hands.

With practical exercises on native vegetation (how to measure environmental conditions), soil (how to collect soil data), fauna (how to survey for birds and mammals), plus so much more, our landcarers enjoyed a lovely day out in the bush learning more about natural asset management.

How successful was it? Our landcarers had this to say:

  • 100% of the participants increased their understanding of environmental accounting either significantly or very significantly
  • 100% of the participants increased their understanding of how to measure the environmental condition of native vegetation
  • 100% of the participants said the Natural Capital Accounting Field Day was either valuable or very valuable.
  • Some feedback quotes:
    • It was an excellent presentation
    • Very knowledgable presenters
    • Good clear information, able to follow well
    • Really well presented and informative
    • The practical exercises provided a very useful opportunity to put into practice what we had been presented with earlier in the day
    • I really liked the mix of theory and practical
    • Presenters were very informative and very helpful.
