    Upper Wakefield Landcare is a small group of volunteers based in the Clare and Gilbert Valleys Council, SA. In 2019 we planted about 300 trees to create habitat for wildlife along a disused road which crosses the River Wakefield near the town of Auburn. Then over the summer months we have been out watering the trees, using equipment purchased through a grant from the SA Government. We also assisted Auburn Primary School to plant natives in the local park on the banks of the river. Our next project is to get feral Ash trees removed professionally from the bed of the river, and to replace them with local natives, grown by two of our members. If anyone has completed similar projects, please share with us how you completed them and especially how you manage the regrowth of the feral trees!
