Webinar: 2024 Nature Budget Brunch

Event Image

Event Overview

The 2024 Budget presents a pivotal opportunity for the Federal government to deliver desperately needed support to reverse the decline of our precious natural environment.

While headline policy commitments like ‘no new extinctions’ and ‘protecting 30 per cent of Australia’s lands by 2030’ have raised hope, the necessary funding to achieve these goals has not yet been committed.

“What’s in it for nature?” That’s the question we’ll be asking as Treasurer Jim Chalmers hands the 2024 Budget on Tuesday, 14th May.

Join the Australian Land Conservation Alliance (ALCA) the following morning for a breakdown of the Budget. ALCA CEO Dr Jody Gunn will provide opening remarks, before ALCA Policy Lead Michael Cornish dissects whether there’s any fresh funding for nature, how existing resources have been reallocated, what it means for the private land conservation sector, and whether the budget delivers on our hopes for Australian nature for the year ahead.
