Connecting to Wetlands

Discover the waterbugs of Gungahlin and help clean-up their home. Join Waterwatch coordinator Bruno Ferronato and Trash Gather's Jess Nguyen learning more about and helping care for Gungahlin Valley Ponds.

This hands-on experience will start with Bruno introducing the waterway's waterbugs and how they tell us about water quality and catchment health. You'll have the opportunity to learn more about the diversity and surprising lives of these tiny creatures and how to contribute to Waterwatch's survey work. You'll then join Jess for a survey of the area surrounding the ponds, learning about how waste pollution affects the waterways and helping clean it up!

The workshop will go ahead rain or shine, so please dress appropriately. Gungahlin Valley Ponds has an amphitheatre which will make a helpful refuge if it rains.

All water sampling and clean-up gear provided. Suitable for all ages.
